When it comes to the list of “must-have” plugins, SEO plugin will always be in the list. A good SEO plugin can help you to rewrite your site title, description, meta tags and also redirect all your dead permalinks to active one. With that said, there are plenty of SEO plugins that you can use. The All in One SEO Pack, Platinum SEO, Headspace2 and WordPress SEO are all great SEO plugins available in the repository. To make things more complicated, premium themes such as Headway themes, Frugal, Thesis, Genesis etc also comes with inbuilt SEO settings that make SEO plugins obsolete.
The worst thing that you can imagine is the difficulty in migrating from one plugin to another. For example, you are using the All in One SEO pack plugin all the while, but you switched to the Headway theme because it is very user-friendly. Now, you are stucked in between. You want to use the Headway inbuilt SEO functions since it can reduce the server overhead, but you don’t want to leave behind those SEO settings you have painfully set up for all your previous posts. You need a way to migrate the SEO settings from one to another. SEO Data Transporter comes to the rescue.
SEO Data Transporter is developed by the Genesis developer (owner of StudioPress). What it does is to take your existing SEO plugin setting, do a comparison with the SEO plugin you want to migrate to and lastly, convert the similar settings between the two.
Once installed, go to Tools -> SEO Data Transport
From the dropdown list, select the SEO plugin you are migrating from and the one you are migrating to. Click “Analyze”. It will then analyze your database and display the data
Lastly, click the “Convert” button and it will do its magic. That’s it.
